Shiftwork:  Applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Duties Summary

Oversees the work of a group of University Security Officers; patrols the University of Hawai'i campuses, including off-campus facilities to enforce laws, rules and regulations for the protection and security of personnel and property, and to detect and prevent attempts by persons to violate the law; conducts investigations of violations, prepares reports and takes appropriate action; and performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualification Requirements -To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Specialized Experience:  Two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience in the enforcement of security laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the protection of personnel and property.

Supervisory Experience:  Applicants must possess supervisory aptitude.  Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects of supervision, e.g., by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; or by the completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; and/or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.  

Guard License:  Applicants must possess a current, valid State of Hawaii Security Guard License at the time of appointment.

Driver's License:  Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.  

Substitutions Allowed:  Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements, will apply.

Certification:  All applicants must obtain valid First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificates or equivalent within six (6) months from the date of employment.
